Have you ever experienced a detour before on your way to work or an important destination?
How did you feel about it? How did you react? Can you still remember the look you had on your face? I wish you took a photo of it lol.
Oftentimes we react angrily right? You may even start complaining and murmuring lol.
Not having time on your side and having to take a longer route to where you are going could be very frustrating and time consuming.
But do you realize that the detour may have delayed you from getting to where you were going on time or even prevented you from going but it saved your life from danger or something tragic?
Oftentimes a detour is a blessing in disguise.
“A detour on your way could be God’s way of keeping you from getting to a dead-end.”
A delay, an unanswered prayer, things not going as planned, a disappointment or failure, a closed door, a broken relationship or friendship could be a detour.
Some minutes ago, I said thank you Lord for even the unanswered prayers and closed doors.
Hearing me say that, you may think am crazy or have lost my mind.
What you may see as an ugly experience could be a blessing in disguise.
You may not understand at that moment and may even question God but a time would come when everything would become clearer to you.
Oftentimes we experience a delay or things don’t go as planned, we tend to get angry but unknown to us God was either keeping us from danger or making us not to miss out on what He has for us.
“A breakup or failed relationship could save you from a lifetime of pain and trauma.”
God may allow a door to be closed because He knows that what is behind that door could harm you but oftentimes you see us wanting to force it open.
“We know so little but God is all knowing.”
God alone knows who’s best for us, what’s best for us and where’s best for us and oftentimes God would allow a detour in our paths so that we may not miss out or make the wrong choices.
Not everything that appears good is for your good and so God may allow a detour in your way to prevent you from getting that thing.
Certain things that appears good or that is seen as favour or a wonderful opportunity could lead to a dead-end.
I don’t know how you may respond to this but I will still say it any way, “Not every good thing is God sent.”
It is good doesn’t mean it is the will of God for you. This is the reason we are told in proverbs 3 verses 5 to 6,
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
If you must know, Satan opens doors too, can give you opportunities and even put people in your paths but with an aim to steal, kill and destroy in your life.
This is the reason we must pray for God’s leading, guidance and direction and before we say yes to certain things, we must first commit it to God.
When certain things don’t go as planned or some prayers go unanswered or something didn’t work out or you experienced a disappointment, just thank God and move on.
“Don’t try to force it, beg for it, cut corners or manipulate your way into it.”
“God didn’t send the storm for Jonah to speak to it but to speak to Jonah.”
What message? “Turn back.”
Why turn back?
God sent Jonah to Nineveh but he decided to flee to Tarshish – the opposite direction from Nineveh. (Jonah.1)
The detour could be God’s way of telling you that you are on the wrong path or heading to a dead-end and you need to turn back.
It could be God’s way of keeping you out of harm’s way or from falling into the trap of the enemy and his human agents.
It is well….
